Yes, I Finally Did it!

Hello, and welcome to my very first AT Photo Book blog post, I am so glad you are here.

Yes, I finally did it! I created a photography website featuring some of my recent photography.

For the last year or more I’ve been posting my photography on LinkedIn and Facebook but I’ve always wanted to have my own website and build a photography business. So, I took the plunge a couple of months ago and jumped in with the help of Squarespace as the platform, and started building my new venue. It’s taken a little longer than expected as starting a photography business has lots of elements to resolve before you can get to a proper launch, and I am always driven to ensure I do my best versus throwing something out there and hoping it sticks.

For example, understanding how far you can push your photographs from a scaling and sizing perspective without the final result being distorted is an extremely important one. But you also have to think of things like presentation, packing, shipping and finding eco-friendly resources to provide you with the materials you need. And then the website itself and how you want it to look, what images to include, what policies you want to have, and the list goes on. Then after all of that you have to focus on getting your website and name out there through marketing, SEO, word of mouth, etc., to make sure your efforts are not all for nothing, that will be my next challenge.

For me its been totally worthwhile and I’m pumped that I have a photography website. Its an amazing feeling having a venue to share my photographs and I’m hoping that you will enjoy my work. My goal is to refresh the website on a regular basis with new photography and new collections. I’ve committed myself to offering specific print sizes as limited editions to make them more unique and to continue driving myself to create new and exciting work.

So, now my journey as a photographer enters a new phase.

I need to start getting the word out and in addition I need to get back in the field with my camera and find a balance between photography and managing my business. To help me do this I am working on a trip that will take me to some previously visited, as well as new, locations that I am excited about. I plan to blog about that as well as my photography journey and the things I learn as I continue to develop my skills. I do hope you’ll enjoy following me.
